On 22 May 2026, Westminster International University in Tashkent, through its Centre for Academic Development (CAD) , successfully hosted the WIUT Teaching and Learning Symposium 2026 under the theme “Rethinking Higher Education: Towards More Human-Centred, Equitable, and Future-Focused Learning and Teaching.”
Organised in partnership with Pearson, the symposium brought together academics and practitioners from English-medium instruction (EMI) higher education institutions across Uzbekistan. It served as a platform for sharing innovative pedagogical practices, assessment approaches, curriculum design ideas, and experiences of integrating artificial intelligence and inclusive teaching strategies into higher education.
The programme featured presentations on AI-assisted assessment, reflective practice, inclusive curriculum design, sustainable development education, digital learning innovations, research efficiency in high teaching-load environments, and authentic learning approaches.
The symposium concluded with an award ceremony recognising outstanding presentations:
• First Place - Mrs Feruza Yodgorova, SFHEA, and Ms Munira Zakirova for “Surgeons, Spreadsheets and Survival: Andragogy beyond Boundaries”
• Second Place - Dr Liliya Makovskaya, SFHEA, for “Building Future-Ready Educators Through Reflective Practice”
• Third Place - Dr Mukhammadmuso Abduzhabbarov for “WOJ: A Custom Online Judge as the Backbone of a Mistake-Tolerant Algorithms Module”
