Follow the leader: a case study of leadership, team based learning and team development in international management education

The paper presents a case study of a team-based learning project in management course. The concepts from the domain of team learning, leadership theory, and global mindset development are applied to identify factors influencing leadership and team development and learning. It is argued that an assigned authority role and responsibilities promote teamwork, leadership skills and global mindset development in cultures that have high power distance, high collectivism and medium to high uncertainty avoidance indexes (Hofstede, 1980) and thus are more appropriate than other more egalitarian approaches commonly used in management education groups projects.
